How to prepare yourself to go back to Dubai?

Aug 20, 2025

You know the feeling. One minute you’re in holiday mode, pretending time doesn’t exist, and the next you’re checking your flight back to Dubai and wondering if your AC survived the summer.

Re-entry isn’t just about unpacking. It’s emotional. It's sweaty. And sometimes, it’s harder than the goodbye.

Whether you’ve been away for weeks or just snuck in a quick trip, here’s how to ease back into Dubai life in a way that feels soft, doable, and not overwhelming.

1. Before You Fly Back

  • Start resetting your body clock — If you’ve been hopping time zones, start shifting your sleep and meal times now so the landing isn’t such a shock.
  • Book your ride ahead — Taxis and Ubers can be chaotic at DXB during peak return periods.
  • Set up DEWA and AC checks — Make sure your DEWA account is active. DEWA’s Away Mode can help manage energy and humidity even before you’re back. Learn more here.

2. Don’t Jump Back In Too Fast

  • Give yourself a buffer day — If you can, keep the first 24 hours back free from big errands or social plans.
  • Manage the inbox shock — Open your email, sort by priority, and tackle it in stages. No gold medal for answering everything in one go.
  • Let go of the guilt — Feeling off-rhythm after a break is normal. Don’t rush it.

3. Back to Life, Back to Reality

  • Fridge & groceries — Schedule a delivery or pre-order basics so you're not scrambling when you land.
  • School check-ins (if you’ve got kids) — Double check uniforms, school emails, and lunchbox supplies before it’s a mad dash.
  • Wardrobe reset — Dubai’s heat hasn’t gone anywhere. Bring back the breezy staples.

4. Reconnecting Gently

  • Ease into your social life — No need to say yes to every invite. Choose what feels grounding.
  • Find a soft landing — A solo matcha, a grocery run in peace, or a quiet coffee with someone who gets it.
  • Check in with your people — If you’ve been away, now’s a lovely time to reconnect — whether it’s through a meetup, a walk, or just a DM.

Coming Back Doesn’t Have to Feel Like Starting Over

There’s no perfect way to land back. But a little prep and a lot of grace goes a long way.
